A mild form of avian influenza has been reported on a poultry farm in the Dutch province of Flevoland, the country’s economic affairs ministry has said.
The entire flock of 24,000 hens on the farm are being destroyed and a transport ban of poultry, eggs and poultry manure has been imposed in a 1 km radius around the farm in Zeewolde. There are, however, no other poultry farms in the area.
Last week, a mild form of bird flu was found on a poultry farm in the East ofhte country in Gelderland. According to the Dutch immediate notification to the OIE, this most recent outbreak has been caused by LPAI H7N7, similar to the earlier reported outbreak.
The last outbreak of bird flu was in spring 2011.
