Fowl Typhoid has been confirmed in Northern Ireland
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs have confirmed an outbreak of Fowl Typhoid in Northern Ireland areas affected are; Lisnaskea, Donagh Cross, County Fermanagh Lisnaskea, Donagh Cross, County Fermanagh.
An outbreak of Fowl Typhoid, caused by the bacterium Salmonella gallinarum, has forced the slaughter of 124,000 birds and a further 112,000 have been destroyed.
A second outbreak ahs been confirmes 1 km from the first outbreak, the disease poses no threat to human health, but farmers have been asked to be vigilant to the spread of the disease.
