Avian Influenza strikes Italy’s poultry industry once again

The Italian poultry industry has experienced the recurrence of one of the most devastating poultry diseases, Avian Influenza. Following the outbreak in 1999 a complete eradication plan had been designed and showed positive results. Still it could not prevent new outbreaks last year. What happened?
