Bird flu kills Indonesian child

The World Health Organization has reported that a girl from East Jakarta in Indonesia has died after becoming infected with a deadly form of bird flu.

According to the UN health agency, the 2-year-old child developed symptoms on 18 November and died 11 days later.

Another girl aged 9 from Riau province reportedly also tested positive for bird flu on 7 November but has since recovered.

WHO stated that the 2 cases take Indonesia’s official tally of bird flu in humans to 139.
