From August 5-9, 2012, exactly a year from now, the 24th World’s Poultry Congress (WPC) will take place in Bahia, Brazil.
This 4-yearly congress will be organised by the Brazilian branch of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA), named FACTA – APINCO (Foundation of Poultry Science and Technology). Full preparations are currently being made and since last month registrations are open to the delegates.
WPC 2012 is considered the most important global event on poultry science and technology. According to the organisers, around 9,000 visitors are expected, of which 3,000 from all over the world. The Congress will be held at the Convention Center of the city of Salvador (BA).
During the 2012 congress, WPSA will celebrate 100 years of history. It was founded on July 18th, 1912, and its name was suggested and accepted 10 years after its creation. The main objectives of WPSA are to promote knowledge and development of technologies employed in all aspects of poultry science and to help facilitate liaison among researchers and professionals working in different sectors of the poultry industry.
The World’s Poultry Congress is based on these concepts. WPC 2012 will discuss important aspects of the meat and egg production chain, from the most elementary fields, live production (management, nutrition, health, environment and animal welfare) to processing technologies and presentation of the final product.
Hundreds of scientific studies on different issues linked to poultry science, developed by researchers and students from universities and research centers from all continents, will be presented. WPC 2012 will also have lectures by internationally renowned researchers and experts on poultry genetics, nutrition, health, and management.
Concurrently with congress, a trade show will take place where all major suppliers of poultry related products and services will be on display.
