Brazilian poultry exports drop 12% in April

Brazilian poultry exports dropped 12% in April compared to the same month last year.

External sales were US$229.1 million and 211,500 tonnes were shipped, representing a reduction in 9.2% in comparison to the same period in 2004. These figures were disclosed yesterday by the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association.

According to the Association’s press release, the drop in exports is a continuation of the decline that started in February, based on decreased consumer demand because of fears about bird flu.
