BS poultry science degree programme introduced

A 4-year BS Poultry Science degree programme will be introduced in the coming academic session by the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore’s Department of Poultry Production.

The University has arranged a meeting to seek input from poultry industry experts and professionals for the development of the programme and to review its curriculum.
The vice-chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Nawaz presided over the meeting, and said that with the advancement and development in livestock and poultry sectors, demand for specialists for every sector was growing and BS Poultry Sciences programme was being initiated to produce skilled manpower needed in the poultry industry.
Chairman Department Poultry Production Professor Dr Muhammad Akram briefed the participants about the proposed programme. He said that the objectives of initiation of the BS programme was to enhance cost effective and efficient production of animal protein foods (eggs and poultry meat) through human resource development in the field of poultry science, to produce professionally trained and technically skilled farm managers who can cater all future needs of hi-tech poultry industry, produce professional graduates in poultry production with technical skills having aptitude of innovative vision capable of developing new strains, as well as modern poultry equipment for their own country and to build a capacity of entrepreneurship in poultry experts for creating employment opportunities.
