Entries are invited for the 2012 Pfizer Poultry Trainee of the Year Awards with opportunity to win a £2000 training grant in career development.
The award, organised in association with Poultry World, is now in its sixth year and comes at a time when there is increasing interest in careers in the industry.
“The poultry industry is a major sector of UK agriculture and a big success story,” says James Porritt, poultry manager of Pfizer Animal Health for UK and Ireland. “In contrast to the situation a few years ago, more young people and their teachers and careers advisers are recognising the opportunities in the poultry industry.
“There is every chance that if you have the talent and ambition, you can work your way to a senior position in the UK or even global industry. The award is designed to provide real help in career development as well as attracting attention to prospects in the industry.”
Entries must be received by July 27, and there is no age limit. The judging panel comprises Phil Clarke, editor of Poultry World, ADAS consultant John Newton and Pfizer’s poultry technical manager Stuart Andrews.
