First lysine production plant to be built in Russia

Prioskolye, the largest poultry producer in Russia, has commissioned the building of a plant for the production of feed lysine in the Belgorod Region of Russia, according to Meat Info.

The aim is that the plant will begin operation in December of this year.

The main raw material for the production of amino acid will be wheat grain. Through deep processing lysine sulfate will be obtained. According to the representatives of the company, feed lysine is currently obtained from abroad in very large numbers – about 38,000 tonnes per year. The plant will cover 60% of the country’s demand for lysine sulfate with a production capacity of 20,000 tonnes of lysine per year.

The plant will reach full production capacity by early 2015. It will create 700 jobs, according to the press-service of the governor of the region. It is expected that the first production that will be supplied to the market will be in the first quarter of 2014.

The total amount of investment of the project is RUB 7.5bn (US$250mln) according to the company.
