Foreign animal disease committee re-established
US Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns has announced the intent to re-establish the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Foreign Animal and Poultry Diseases. This will be for a period of two years.
Mike Johanns believes that the Committee is necessary and is in the interest o the public.
It is expected that the Committee will advise the Agriculture Secretary in terms of both programme operations and measures in order to prevent, control and eradicate outbreaks of destructive foreign animal and poultry diseases in the event that such diseases enter into the country.
