French Agriculture Minister Stephane Travert has visited Ceva’s Beijing factory as part of President Emmanuel Macron’s 3 day trip to China this week.
Macron’s tour of Beijing and Xi’an is designed to boost trade links with Paris keen to emerge as a major Chinese partner in Europe following Britain’s decision to leave the European Union and the US showing signs of retreating from the world stage under the Trump administration.
As well as the French Agriculture and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, President Macron also took nearly 50 French chief executives to China in a bid to glean export contracts.
Mr Travert visited Ceva’s Beijing factory, which manufactures poultry vaccines, and employs 140 people. Ceva Sante Animale employs 500 people across China and has been present in the country since 2002.
It is one of the most innovative world leaders in poultry vaccination technologies with 20 billion birds – about a quarter of the broilers produced around the globe – protected by its new-technology vaccines annually.
