Germany produces more broiler chickens
In 2008, Germany imported 25% less broilers than in 2007, as the German broiler production showed signs of growth, according to the German market statistics agency ZMP.
The number of imported birds was 68 mln. German broiler production grew 12% to 544.5 mln animals. The growth of the number of broilers in the farms was for that reason only 5.5% – to 598 mln.
Broiler meat production grew 8.5% to 707,000 t due to higher delivery weights.
