HK resumes importing poultry

20-11-2009 | |

The Centre for Food Safety in Hong Kong has resumed processing applications to import poultry meat and products from Spain, except from the provinces of Guadalajara and Navarra.

The applications were suspended following the confirmation of avian influenza H7 cases in a poultry farm in Castilla-La Mancha, Guadalajara, last month.

The centre said in view of the control measures taken by the country and the fact there have been no other cases of avian influenza reported, application processing will resume.

Importation of poultry meat and products from Navarra has been suspended since the confirmation of avian influenza H5 cases in a duck farm in June.
