Indonesia to halt Malaysian poultry
Indonesia plans to halt poultry imports from Malaysia. This follows an outbreak of the highly pathogenic bird flu virus found in chickens near the capital Kuala Lumpur.
“We are processing the import ban decree, but Malaysian products on the way will automatically be banned,” said director of animal health at the ministry, Musny Suatmodjo.
Indonesia imports ducks and duck eggs from Malaysia.
Singapore recently said it was suspending all poultry and egg imports from Selangor after the bird flu outbreak.
