International Postgraduate Course – Design of ExperimentsWageningen, held 10, 11 and 12 October 2007.
To engage you in developing your skills in design experiments in agricultutral research, the course is in the format of “active learningâ€.
A combination of an informative PowerPoint® lecture will be followed by a practical group task. Day 1 and 2 will incorporate exercises to practice the theory of designing experiments. Day 3 will be devoted to specific “real-life†problems from you, the participants, who will present and discuss your designed experiments
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should see improvement in your ability to
• understand the principles and theory of designing experiments
• understand and use the terminology of experimental designs
• design an experiment in line with the research objective
• present and discuss the concept of an experimental design
• cooperate in a team environment
• work quickly
Target audience
The course is designed for those who are at the beginning of their scientific careers and those who have had some experience in designing experiments, but would like to refine their skills. We assume some basic knowledge of common statistical methods, such as linear regression and analysis of variance. Scientists from various disciplines are welcome to attend.
