Italy ND-free status unaffected by outbreak

Agriculture authorities in Italy have reported that 11 birds appeared to have died from Newcastle Disease in Castelnuovo Berardenga, Toscana.

According to the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code (chapter 10.13), however, this outbreak does not change the Newcastle Disease-free status of Italy because the involved birds do not fall within the definition of poultry.
