A Polish man (23) has been killed after a rack of frozen chickens fell on him. The tragic incident took place yesterday at the Cappoquin Poultry chicken processing plant in Ireland.
It is believed a rack of frozen poultry collapsed on the man at the same time as he was loading pallets in one of the factory’s cold storage rooms, causing severe head injuries.
Staff at the generations-old Cappoquin Poultry factory were described as “shocked” following the death, thought to have been the first of its nature there.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) is investigating the cause of the accident.
