Maniker to open chicken farms in N. Korea

28-08-2007 | |

Maniker, a leading chicken-processing company in S. Korea, has said that its executives will visit N. Korea in September with the aim of finalising the company’s plans to set up chicken farms in the region.

Since 2002, the company has explored ways to build chicken farms in N. Korea, in order to take advantage of cheap labour in the area.
During the visit next month, the company would like to decide the location of the chicken farms between Sariwon, south of the N. Korean capital of Pyongyang and Samilpo near Mt. Geumgang on the east coast
“At this time, we expect the North Korean business project to produce a visible result,” said a Maniker official.
