More than 50 international and local guests attended the official opening of the new Cobb-Vantress Asia-Pacific regional head office in Shanghai, seen as an important step in developing the Cobb foothold in China.
Jerry Moye, president of Cobb-Vantress, performed the ribbon cutting ceremony at the new office complex in SOHO Fuxing Plaza, a development in the central area of Xintiandi. He commented that opening the office in Shanghai was “one more step in achieving our long term strategy of having a production operation in China to deliver parent stock directly to Chinese customers”.
In his opening remarks Pelayo Casanovas, Cobb Asia-Pacific general manger, emphasised the commitment and investment that Cobb is making in Asia to support the growth of the breed in this region for a poultry industry with tremendous potential. He stated: “Cobb places great value in the integrity, product quality and reliability of the supply chain that will help create demand for Cobb products in the Asia/Pacific region.”
This office will be the base for the Cobb team operating across East Asia and the Pacific as well as supporting the Cobb grandparent operation currently being built in Hubei province in partnership with Hubei Tongxing Agriculture group. This investment is designed to satisfy the increased demand for Cobb parent stock in the Chinese market, currently supplied by Beijing Poultry Breeding Company. The grandparent farm will be operational in the fourth quarter of 2015.
