Newcastle disease in Chile birds

An Agriculture Ministry’s veterinarian official has confirmed that Newcastle disease has been found in dead birds in southern Chile.

Plans are underway for the government to strengthen surveillance of wild birds near the city of Constitucion and to take measures in preventing domestic birds from being infected with Newcastle Disease.
In June, eight wild cormorants were found dead in the coastal area of Constitucion.
