Meyn Rapid Plus M4.2 voted first place

At the 18th China International Meat Industry Exhibition 2020 (CIMIE 2020), the Meyn Rapid Plus M4.2 was voted as the number 1 food processing machine. The Meyn Rapid Plus M4.2 is a poultry deboning solution that can harvest all fillet and tender products automatically from both breast caps and front halves at a speed of 7,000 BPH, giving the processor the opportunity to harvest up to 21 different end products with the highest yield in the market.

Boehringer Ingelheim vaccine protects poultry from 3 diseases

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health has launched a first-of-its-kind vaccine in the US to protect poultry from 3 diseases. Vaxxitek HVT+IBD+ILT is the first vaccine to offer protection in one shot from Infectious Laryngotracheitis, Marek’s Disease and Infectious Bursal Disease (classic and variant types). The company will manufacture its new vaccine in Gainesville, Georgia, where it makes 60 billion doses of poultry vaccine a year for use in the US and about 60 other countries. After launching in the US, the company plans to seek regulatory approval to offer the vaccine in other countries.

VDL takes over Jansen Poultry Equipment

VDL in the Netherlands has taken over Jansen Poultry Equipment, a manufacturer of high-quality poultry systems for the laying, breeding and broiler sectors, from housing and egg transport systems, to unloading and manure drying systems, and which operates in more than 80 countries.

CP Foods takes significant steps toward green revenue

Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF) will increase green revenue to 30% this year. More than 770 of the company’s products, including livestock feedmeal, fresh chicken, tender chicken breast, fresh duck and frozen cooked duck, had been certified Carbon Reduction Label, Carbon Footprint Label in line with ISO 14067 from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization or TGO and Waterfootprint according to ISO 14046 from the Federation of Thai Industries, leading the company’s green revenue which reached 25% of its total sales in 2019. In 2020, TGO also certified the Carbon Reduction Label to CP Foods six chicken feedmeal formulas, which help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 77,500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent last year equal to planting 1.28 million trees.

P.D. Hook (Hatcheries) commits to higher welfare

Following productive dialogue with Animal Equality, P.D. Hook (Hatcheries), the fourth largest chicken producer in the UK, becomes the latest producer to support the Better Chicken Commitment, which aims to better the welfare of chickens used for meat, asking companies to eliminate fast-growing breeds, high stocking densities and outdated slaughter methods from their supply chains by 2026. It has already been adopted by over 300 companies worldwide, including KFC, Nando’s, Unilever and Waitrose.

Cobb Europe and RCL Foods host technical school

More than 200 poultry professionals and farm managers across southern Africa and Uganda have benefitted from the Cobb Europe and RCL Foods technical school partnership which more than 60 students attended virtually. The 3-day programme covered topics such as flock health, breeders, hatchery, broiler management, and nutrition.

VIV celebrates a milestone edition in China

Over 16,500 visitors were welcomed to 40,000 sqm of exhibition space at VIV Qingdao 2020 held from 17-19 September in China, and global buyers joined virtually, registering over 55,000 pageviews. Conference discussions included China’s transition to cage-free egg production, and efficiency and profit improvement on layer and egg. VIV Qingdao 2021 is scheduled for 15-17 September 2021.

Lallemand opens offices in Vietnam

Lallemand Animal Nutrition has opened an office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to distribute the portfolio, including feed additives, for poultry, ruminants, pork, and aquaculture throughout the country.

Millions raised to build world’s largest insect farm

Ÿnsect has extended its Series C funding to US$372 million to build the largest insect farm in the world in Amiens, France. The farm will be completed in 2022 and will produce 100,000 t of insect products annually. The company has created a patented process for cultivating mealworm to produce a variety of digestible protein and fertilizer products. These products replace animal proteins consumed in the supply chain by fish and livestock farms.

DSM completes acquisition of Erber Group

Royal DSM has acquired Erber Group’s Biomin and Romer Labs. Biomin specialises primarily in mycotoxin risk management and gut health performance management, while Romer Labs focuses on food and feed safety diagnostic solutions.

Soy-based protein ingredients manufacturer for young animals, Hamlet Protein, has launched its new corporate website which offers information on feeding solutions for different species, allows for a deep dive in key challenges producers face, and will be regularly updated with the latest company and market developments.

Disease mitigation technology now available

Farm Health Guardian, a new real-time disease mitigation technology platform, is now available for pork and poultry producers and integrators throughout North America, Europe and the UK. Brought to market by Be Seen Be Safe, the patented system tracks and records movement in and out of production facilities in real time, providing fast, confidential ways to record all staff, visitor and vehicle movement.
