“Current and future prospects of natural and organic poultry†was the title of a symposium in the 97th annual meeting of Poultry Science Association (PSA) in July 2008 in Niagara Falls, Canada. For this blog, I’d like to talk briefly about this subject which might be of interest to people in some parts of the world.

The organic food market especially organic poultry is growing very fast. Organic food presently accounts for about $17 billion in sales although it still constitutes a small portion of the total food sales. Chicken is the most widely available and most popular organic meat.
I personally do not consume organic products but I really like to know your opinions (especially if you are using these products) on the following questions:
I. Do you think that organic poultry products have more nutritive value than conventional ones?
II. How about safety of these products from microbial standpoint (especially Salmonella spp. and Campylobacter spp.)? Do you think that they are safer than conventional ones?
