The American Meat Institute (AMI) has announced that former Capitol Hill fellow and staffer Stephen Sothmann has been named the Institute’s director of International Affairs.
Sothmann will also serve as director of international affairs for the US Hide, Skin and Leather Association, an affiliate of AMI. In his position, Sothmann will report to US Hide, Skin and Leather Association President John Reddington and AMI Vice President of International Affairs William Westman.
Previously, Sothmann worked on international business and trade issues as a legislative aide for several members of Congress. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Purdue University in 2006 and a master’s of business administration and law degree from Indiana University in 2009.
“Stephen’s extensive education and background in international trade will be a great assets to AMI and our members as we work to expand our foreign market access and increase our trade opportunities, which are essential to the economic success of the US meat and poultry sector,” said AMI President and CEO J. Patrick Boyle.
