Spain: Outbreak of Newcastle Disease

The agriculture authorities in Spain have reported an outbreak of Newcastle Disease in 2,075 birds in Zumaia, Pais Vasco.

Since December 1993, Newcastle disease had not appeared in Spain.

A total of 1,700 birds have reportedly died. From the 11,000 susceptible birds, 7,225 were destroyed. Apart from stamping out, disinfection measures, control of wildlife reservoirs, movement control and zoning measures are carried out.
