Staged simulation of AI’s effect on supply chain
A simulation of a supply chain disruption involving an outbreak of avian influenza will be staged at an upcoming industry meeting in the US.
The enactment of a hypothetical outbreak of
avian influenza will demonstrate the disruptive impact that emergencies can have on global supply chains, while also revealing how a company’s response to an emergency can be critical to its bottom line.
Ken Cottrill of MIT says that the main objective of the simulation is to show the kinds of challenges that companies could face in crisis situations, as well as the important role that supply chain management plays in responding to, and recovering from, these crises.
“When faced with a disruptive crisis, intra-corporate and inter-functional area communication and collaboration are crucial,†said Cottrill.
