Technical seminar on AI training tomorrow, Brussels
The European Commission is holding a technical seminar on training on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) control in Brussels on 2 April as part of the Health and Consumer Protection DG’s Better Training for Safer Food initiative.
Around 100 participants are expected to attend, including competent authority representatives from EU Member States and countries having benefited from the initiative’s HPAI training since its launch in 2006. Representatives of international organisations active in combating HPAI such as the World Organisation for Animal Health, the World Health Organization and the World Bank will also be present.
The seminar will help the Commission to reflect on the work done since 2006 and the current situation in order to decide on the best way forward for HPAI training. Input from national authorities of countries most affected and international donors will give the Commission a clear idea of where training is most required and how best to tailor it to specific local needs.
The outcomes of the seminar will be taken into account when designing the HPAI training programme scheduled to run during 2008 and 2009.
