Thailand’s biggest bust of illegal vaccine

08-01-2007 | |

Police in Bangkok have seized 1,800 bottles of contraband bird flu vaccine, which was made in China and on the way to Hong Kong, via Bangkok, which is apparently worth more than 20 million baht (€429,313). This is believed to be the biggest bust in Thailand.

Three men, who were allegedly smuggling 250 millilitre bottles of the bird flu vaccine into the country, have been arrested at a bus station by the Koh Samui’s marine police.
The vaccine was banned in Thailand in 2005 for fear that its widespread use could cause the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus to mutate.
