China says American lab to blame in delay of bird flu sample sharing.

Twenty samples of highly pathogenic avian influenza are to be sent from a Chinese lab to the World Health Organization , but Chinese officials say the US isn’t properly completing its paperwork.

“The US lab has not yet completed import procedures, causing an indefinite delay in the shipment of the virus,” an Agriculture Ministry official told China Daily. The samples are to be used in an effort to develop vaccines, and China’s motivation to delay release of the samples is unknown.
