Various poultry companies and associations have released statements following the loss of one of the industries pioneering figures. Here follows some reactions:

USA Poultry & Egg Export Council
The USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) is saddened by the death of Don Tyson. Mr. Tyson was an industry icon in every sense of the word, and his company was a pioneer in exporting US chicken to many countries of the world. Tyson is one of the brand names that says “American chicken” the world over.

Mr. Tyson was always supportive of the international side of the business. A representative of Tyson Foods has been on the USAPEEC Board of Directors every year since the organization’s inception in 1985.

Pilgrims Pride
“Don Tyson will be remembered as a true pioneer in our industry, a leader who possessed great vision and passion for excellence,” said Bill Lovette, Pilgrim’s president and chief executive officer. “His significant contributions have played a key role in our industry’s growth and development over the years and helped position chicken as a leading protein.”

The Poultry Federation
The Poultry Federation is saddened by the news of the death of poultry icon, Don Tyson.  Our sympathy goes out to the entire Tyson family during this difficult time.  We also extend our thoughts and prayers to the dedicated Tyson team members around the world.  Don Tyson was The Poultry Federation’s Man of the Year in 1977 and 1986 and continued throughout his life to be one of the largest supporters of The Poultry Federation and its mission.

“In my short tenure as President of The Poultry Federation, Don Tyson became a personal friend and never missed an opportunity to help our organization,” stated Marvin Childers.  “Not only was he always the first to contribute financially, he participated in open discussions on many issues related to the poultry industry.  He was a wealth of knowledge, a tough negotiator and one of the most generous individuals I’ve ever known. I will definitely miss his counsel.”
