At least 38 member companies of the USA Poultry & Egg Export Council (USAPEEC) will take part in next week’s SIAL food and beverage exhibition in Paris.

The show, which is the world’s second-largest food fair, will be held Oct. 17-21 at the gargantuan Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center, and is expected to attract as many as 150,000 visitors from 185 countries.

USAPEEC and the US Meat Export Federation will jointly share space in the US Meat and Poultry Pavilion at SIAL. Numerous members will have individual exhibit stands within the USAPEEC section of the pavilion, while others plan to attend the show but not exhibit.

“Because of its sheer size and global presence, SIAL is one of those must-attend shows,” said USAPEEC International Marketing Vice President Greg Tyler, who along with USAPEEC’s European marketing consultant Lisa Lindblad will shepherd the members during the four-day event. “It looks like we will have a near-record turnout of our members in Paris.”

US poultry and egg exports are becoming increasingly important for the industry. In 2009, total US exports of chicken, turkey, duck and eggs exceeded $4.2 billion.
