Vietnam set to join WTO

08-11-2006 | |

Vietnam is about to become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The decision was made by the WTO’s General Council on Tuesday. If successful Vietnam will become the WTO’s 150th member.
The deal now has to be ratified by Vietnam. Following ratification Vietnam has to wait 30 days after ratification before it gains full membership.
The American Meat Institute has been supporting the development, claiming that the agreement will provide increased market access for US beef, pork and poultry.
