Adisseo building methionine plant in China

06-12-2011 | | |

Nutritional feed ingredients company Adisseo, says construction is progressing well on its new, fully integrated Rhodimet AT 88 methionine plant at the Nanjing Chemical Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province, China.

The plant, being built in conjunction with Adisseo’s parent company China National Bluestar, will begin production of Rhodimet AT 88 in two phases. The first phase is planned for April 2013 with the production of 70 thousand metric tons of Rhodimet AT 88 per year. The plant’s full capacity, 140 thousand metric tons per year, will be realised in the second phase.

The new, fully integrated plant converts basic raw materials such as propylene and sulphur to intermediate products and then to liquid methionine.

Construction began in August 2010. More than 1,200 workers are currently employed in plant construction at the site.

Asia and China in particular are the fastest growing areas for poultry production and thus methionine consumption. Adisseo is clearly committed to serving its customers and to assisting them in their own long term expansion.

This project is aligned with Adisseo’s commitment towards occupational safety, sustainable development and environment protection by developing and implementing the best available technologies.
