Aviagen and Cherkizovo Group, Russia’s leading poultry meat producer and one of Aviagen’s key Russian customers, have completed a series of meetings at Aviagen’s European headquarters in Edinburgh in a move designed to share technical information and improve understanding of modern farming methods.
Having successfully expanded its Parent Stock (PS) capacity three-fold in the last two years, Cherkizovo Group is now investing in new PS and broiler facilities in Elets (Lipetsk). The fact-finding mission to Aviagen was specifically designed to share knowledge on the construction of modern breeder houses.
The summit included an update on Aviagen’s research and development programme and a technical and veterinary review of Cherkizovo Group’s farming methods. The event then took a practical turn as the group conducted a tour of one of Aviagen’s production facilities in Scotland.
Neil Clark, Aviagen’s Regional Technical Manager for Russia, said: “Cherkizovo Group’s development of the Russian poultry meat market is hugely impressive. They are now focusing on investment in new facilities and we felt our experience in constructing cutting-edge farms and using modern farming methods would be hugely valuable to them.
