By 2015 poultry production in Azerbaijan is expected to reach 80,000 tonnes, which will almost twice exceed the level of 2012.
This is one of the tasks provided by the recently adopted State Program on Food Security, according to head of the department of production and processing of animal products in the Ministry of Agriculture of the country Genghis Faradzhev. According to official statics, the country last year produced 45,700 tonnes of poultry.
Faradzhev noted that to achieve this goal it is necessary to increase the production capacity with the launching of new production facilities.
“The increasing of poultry production is one of our most important goals,” he said, adding that in the long-term prospects the government aims to increase the production of poultry farms to 120,000 tonnes.
According to official statics in 2012 seven new large poultry farms were launched in the country.
