Cargill has announced a $12.5 million expansion of its egg processing facility in Mason City, Iowa, providing 20 new jobs once completed.

Cargill Kitchen Solutions is a marketer of further-processed egg products in North America, selling primarily to the foodservice sector. The Mason City facility, which employs more than 150 stakeholders, opened in March 2001 and has undergone several expansions over the years.

“We have a tremendous workforce in Mason City, and we are very pleased to invest additional resources in the community,” said Troy Swanson, Mason City Plant Manager for Cargill Kitchen Solutions. “As we made final expansion decisions, we appreciated the support of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation, as well as local and state officials.”

About $2 million of the expansion investment will be spent with local suppliers and contractors during the construction phase.

Work on the expansion will begin this summer and the expansion will be fully operational by Spring 2012.
