The International Egg Commission has announced that former president F.W. de Klerk will provide its inaugural Leadership Lecture at this year’s Annual Marketing and Production conference, being held in Cape Town 22nd – 26th September.
The Nobel Prize winner is topping an exceptional programme of speakers at the IEC conference and will deliver an address to delegates on “The Management of Change: lessons drawn from the transformation of South Africa”, on Thursday 26th September.
In addition to F.W. de Klerk, delegates will also hear from a variety of industry experts as they discuss the latest issues affecting the egg industry globally. IEC Economic Analyst and Senior Economist at the LEI Wageningen University, Peter van Horne, will share his expertise on the key issue of “Egg Production Costs – Analysis and Trends”, and Nan-Dirk Mulder, of Rabobank, will present on “Volatility in Feed and Financial Markets – The Challenge for the Egg Industry”. There will also be presentations and case studies to help inspire delegates on ways to increase egg consumption and enhance the positive image of eggs globally.
During the conference, IEC delegates will learn more about how the International Egg Commission is working with key organisations such as the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) and Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), promoting eggs and raising the profile of the industry worldwide.
Around 400 of the egg industry’s business leaders will gather in Cape Town this September. Julian Madeley, Director General of the IEC, explained: “The IEC Annual Marketing and Production Conference is always the main event in the international egg industry’s calendar, but this year, with F.W. de Klerk as our headline speaker, it is going to be bigger than ever.
“IEC conferences provide an excellent opportunity for our industry’s leaders and decision makers to get together to forge relationships and discuss the latest issues and trends affecting our industry. The diversity of subjects covered at the conferences is excellent, whether you are a producer, a packer, a marketer, or a supplier to the industry.”
