US fast food retailer, Dunkin’ Donuts has announced that it will phase in the use of cage free eggs in its breakfast eggs in the US.
Dunkin’ Donuts, which serves baked goods and coffee, and claims to serve more than three million customers daily, will transition 5% of its eggs to cage-free by the end of 2013.
“We’re working with our partners at The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and our franchisee-owned distribution and purchasing cooperative to source ingredients that meet high animal welfare standards,” said Dunkin’ Donuts’ vice president of global supply chain Scott Murphy.
