Egg production in Ukraine grew by 4% in the first half of 2013 and amounted to 10.1 billion eggs, the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine has reported.
“The increase in egg production in Ukraine has been witnessed for more than a year. Therefore, we can provide a growing demand in the country and increase our exports. We have already established contacts for the supply of eggs to nearly 20 countries,” Mykola Prysiazhniuk, said.
He said that egg production had grown at both enterprises and households. The minister said that state enterprises had increased production by 5.2%, while households had achieved a 2.4% growth. “This shows that it’s profitable for individual farmers to work in the livestock sector and the government is trying to promote this in every possible way,” Prysiazhniuk said.
The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food also expressed confidence that the volume of egg production will continue to grow in the nearest future.
