“The world is a global marketplace”, is proving to be a bone of contention between developing countries and less developed countries in the world. The consequences of a total liberalisation of world trade could be harmful for infant industries in many developing countries which would have no chance to compete against the well-organised economies in the North and in some threshold countries like South East Asia. And nowhere is this more evident than in the livestock industry, primarily focused as it is on poultry production.
