Fire destroys Naples chicken factory

The US Navy personnel will be without fresh chicken for a while, as their supplier’s factory was destroyed in a fire.

The store has in the meantime increased its order of frozen chicken, supplied by American poultry producer, Tyson . Store administrator Maria Grazia, said, “As soon as we were notified about the fire, we increased the order of Tyson frozen chicken line items. We adjusted the order to satisfy demand hoping this will be appreciated from our customers.” Fresh-chicken deliveries will resume in about two weeks, she added.
The commissary, at Naval Support Activity Naples’ Gricignano Support Site , normally orders 150 cases of fresh chicken a week and serves about 6,000 people.
Grazia did not have any details on the fire, other than it was a “major” blaze in the Arena Divisione Fresce Co. production plant that supplies the commissary’s fresh chicken.
