Foie gras ban lifted in Chicago

16-05-2008 | | |

Those in Chicago will once again be able to legally order foie gras from restaurants after the city’s council voted to repeal a controversial ban on the delicacy.

Council members recently voted 37-6 in favour of producing the delicacy that critics say is produced at cruel expense to geese and ducks.
It is reported that Mayor Richard Daley, who once referred to the ban as “the silliest law the City Council has ever passed”, backed efforts for the council to vote on the appeal.
