Following the pattern established in early 2004, poultry health has been dominated by considerations relating to avian influenza. This preoccupation has tended to overshadow the presence of erosive diseases, which collectively have a greater financial impact on the health and productivity of chickens, turkeys and ducks than the more newsworthy catastrophic diseases.
