Poultry farmers in the UK can apply for a grant in order to fund the purchase of a poultry litter drying system, through the Countryside Productivity scheme.
Poultry farmers can apply to the Rural Payments Agency (RPA). There are grants between £35,000 and £1,000,000 available. The grant can fund up to 40% of the total eligible costs of the proposal. These grants are for systems that can remove at least 85% of the moisture from a poultry litter, and reuse captured waste heat to dry poultry litter or heat housing units (using heat exchangers).
Applicants can also seek funding for the cost of installing the system, for a heat exchanger, and for water tanks, pumps, pipes, recirculation units and orpipes to deliver and distribute warm air (from the hot water) to the poultry units. Applicants need to use heat pumps to capture and reuse heat from the biomass boiler to reheat the poultry housing units (through the existing ventilation system).
More information on how to apply and conditions can be found on the UK Government website.
