Kazakhstan already has the capacities to increase its production of poultry by nearly a third, to 160,000 tonnes of production per year, according to the country’s Vice Minister of Agriculture Gulmira Isaeva.
Isaeva stated that last year egg production in Kazakhstan rose by 10% year-on-year, to 2.5 billion units, poultry production rose by 11%, to 128,000 tonnes.
“This year we also see an increase in production volumes. In addition, today the country’s self-sufficiency in egg production amounts to roughly 95% of the general consumption,” said Isaeva at the opening of the III Kazakhstan Forum of Poultry Breeders.
“Self-sufficiency in poultry production amounts to 15.6%, this is the second largest figure in the meat industry after beef production,” she added.
“Taking into account the incomplete use of the capacities of domestic poultry farms and annual growth of subsidising the industry, the Republic has the potential of increasing the production of broiler meat to 160,000 tonnes per year. Moreover, it is possible to boost the production of chilled poultry by about 50%,” she concluded.
Currently, the country’s poultry industry consists of 59 poultry farms, including three egg production farms, 21 broiler meat production farms and five farms of mixed type.
