Jerry Moye, President of Cobb-Vantress, was named the “2011 Industry Leader of the Year” by The Poultry Federation during their 52nd Annual Poultry Festival.
The Poultry Federation is a tri-state trade organization representing the poultry and egg industries in Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The award formerly titled “Man of the Year” has been awarded since 1955 and recognizes the outstanding achievements of poultry and egg executives and their contribution to the industry.
Moye has been in the poultry industry for over 30 years. He has progressed from director of technical services to become general manager, vice president, a senior vice president, and then president of Cobb-Vantress. Before joining Cobb-Vantress, he spent sixteen years in integrated chicken production as a live production manager for two large US integrators. His management responsibilities included breeders, hatcheries, broilers, and feed mills. He has a degree in economics from Washington College in Maryland.
Moye recently completed a three-year term on The Poultry Federation’s Board of Directors and is currently serving another three-year term. Moye served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2008-2010. He is one of the very few directors that served two consecutive years as Chairman. During his tenure, there was never a job too small or too large for him to tackle and his leadership as Chairman is well recognized.
The purposes of the Federation are to promote and protect all poultry interests relating to production, distribution, merchandising and consumption of poultry and poultry products; to disseminate information relating to the various phases of the poultry industry in order to improve and expand markets; to increase efficiency in production and marketing; to encourage and support research in production and marketing of poultry; and to encourage and support youth programs in poultry work. .
