Mexico begins second phase of AI vaccination campaign

The government of Mexico is launching the second phase of its avian flu campaign, with 90 million doses of AI vaccine headed to the Lost Altos region of Jalisco, in the west of Mexico.

The recent outbreak of H7N3 has to date resulted in the culling of 11 million birds. The first phase of the vaccination campaign vaccinated roughly 88.3 million birds. A further 53 million doses are being kept in reserve.

Senasica director Enrique Sanchez has stated that poultry distribution is expected to resume this month.
