Ukraine poultry giant MHP increased sales of poultry by 4%, meanwhile exports decreased by 22% in Q3 of 2015, according to an official report from the company.

In July-September of 2015 MHP sold 150,260 tonnes of poultry to external customers, which is 4% more than in July-September 2014.

According to the report, due to an increase in production volumes at Vinnytsia poultry farm, poultry production in the third quarter of 2015 rose by 6% – up to 142,295 tonnes over the same period last year, and by 4% to 420,720 tonnes – in the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.

Poultry export markets

However, for the third quarter, MHP reduced exports by 22% – to 34,585 tonnes mainly due to a decrease in sales of poultry in the CIS countries. During January-September 2015, the volume of exports remained relatively stable: 100,600 tonnes in comparison with 102,145 tonnes in the same period last year.

Now MHP continues to explore new markets in Asia, Middle East and Africa, increasing export of poultry to these regions, including the Saudi market.

Poultry prices

The average price of poultry in the third quarter of 2015 remained stable compared to the second quarter of 2015, but at the same time the price increased by 25% compared to the same period last year, to 27.62 UAH (US$ 1.16)/kg (excluding VAT), mainly because of the devaluation of the hryvnia.

During the first nine months of 2015 the average price of poultry increased by 45% to 26.92 UAH (US$ 1.13) /kg (excluding VAT), compared to the same period in 2014.
