Yum! Brands has opened an environment-friendly KFC-Taco Bell restaurant in Northampton, Massachusetts, USA.

This restaurant is an effort to pursue certification under the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design programme, says the company.

Yum! Brands states that the restaurant design represents factors such as reducing carbon footprint; water conservation and quality; and sensible building materials and resources use.

The restaurant, designed to use 30% less energy and water than a conventional building, also cuts carbon dioxide emissions, reduces waste going to landfills/incinerators and educates visitors and employees on sustainable design, said the company.
