Oregano: improves poultry performance

Ropadiar, a feed supplement for pigs and poultry based on the natural herb oregano, is being marketed following 18 months of successful trials on farms in Yorkshire.

The appetiser and flavouring agent, marketed by GE Baker (UK) Ltd of Woolpit, Suffolk, is said to increases feed intake, and consequently improves growth rate, particularly with weaners, growing pigs and broilers. Improved performance has also been recorded in egg layers.
Ropadiar, made by Ropapharm International, the Netherlands, contains oregano oils extracted from specially-selected plants, which are said to contain antibacterial, antifungal, anti-parasitic and anti-oxidative properties, as well as having a positive effect on the immune system.
