People: Owen Paterson appointed Defra secretary
Owen Paterson has been confirmed by Number 10 Downing Street as the UK’s Department for the Environment, Farming, and Rural Affairs Secretary of State.
Paterson, Member of Parliament for North Shropshire, was formerly the Northern Ireland secretary, and takes over from Caroline Spelman.
